Wife: Ellissa Tiller

I told you a bit about Ellissa on my home page.  Take my word for it, she's a gem.  After our wedding on October 23, 1999, we traveled to misty Scotland for a three-week honeymoon.  Eventually I'll get around to posting a few of our better pictures to this site.
 

Father: Raymond Joseph Montoni

My father passed away in 2000. He was a musician all his life, performing as a violist for over half a century and teaching all stringed instruments as well. As I have grown up with all kinds of music in the house, I can tell you that I know good string playing when I hear it -- and Raymond Montoni was one of the best violists in the country.

Mother: Hope Haley Montoni

My mother is also a musician; although her instrument is her own voice.  Hope Montoni is an accomplished operatic singer, performing in operas, solos, duos, and other venues for her talent for almost forty years.  In more recent years she has become one of Richmond's premier vocal coaches; teaching correct speech to assorted area professionals.

Sister: Lisa Navarro

Brothers and sisters being what we are, the thing that comes to mind immediately when I think of my sister is "sibling warfare".  What more is there between a sister and her bro'?

Friends

My friends are a unique bunch.  When I was in elementary school, I didn't have but one or two at a time.  Now, I have a small circle of friends that I've spent many years getting to know.

My philosophy on friendship is that life is terribly short, and because of that the measure of your "permanence" on this earth is a direct relation to the quality of the company you keep.

The company I keep is exemplary.

Let's start with my best friend:

Christopher Robert Barbie

I met Chris during my Junior year of Hermitage High School, and I haven't been able to shake him since.  We've been through all of the great and bad times that best friends share.  If I had a brother, I would have wished it to be Chris, for we have been as brothers for the better part of twenty years.

Chris has a family now, and since I have moved away from Richmond we don't see each other as much as we used to, and I miss that.  But every time we do get together it's like the last time was just yesterday.  I think it will always be that way, with us.

The Rest of Marc's Mafia

My other friends are largely either from my AMC car hobby or from my Libertarian activities.
 

• Michael P Coughin - One of the best AMC mechanics I'll ever know. I first met Mike at Meyer AMC in Richmond VA about 1977; although we didn't start "hanging out" until I purchased a 68 AMX in 1980 or so and started going to the dealership on a regular basis. Mike helped me with a lot of projects subsequently, and pretty well educated me about AMC's mechanically. He's also hilariously funny at times -- even when he gets on your nerves as only Irishmen can.
• Scott Elston - served for six years as the unpaid, volunteer Treasurer of the LPVA; a job for which I recruited him -- and for which he will never forgive me; mostly because of the rather rotten sendoff he was given by the crew that replaced us. No good deed goes unpunished, eh, Scott? Scott also is known by his internet handles Farfalonous and Phlebotomes.
• Jeff Barnaby, Al & Marie Bromm, and John Cookson, among others - members of the Richmond Libertarians.  A batch of finer people I don't think I've ever known.
• Gary Reams - current chair of the Virginia LP, and a good friend.  Gary officiated at my wedding, and did a damn fine job of it too. To repay me, he made me take pictures of his wedding to fellow Libertarian Tanya Kangas in 2002.
• Nick Dunbar - the Operations Director at LP National headquarters.  A fine, reliable, and loyal friend.  There is little I wouldn't do for Nick.
• Christopher Price - not a Libertarian except perhaps in philosophy.  He combines loyalty, sarcasm, and irksomeness into a fine package.  And someone you'd like to have on your side in a scrap.
• TJ Tobolski - also not a Libertarian, but that doesn't stop him from being a trustworthy and hilarious ally.  Plus, he exchanges Beavis & Butthead imitations with me -- and watch out for his "your mama" jokes.  He will keep you ROLLING, especially if you're listening to him over a walkie-talkie.
• Craig & Gail Goldberg - AMC friends, who I've known for over twenty years now.  It sure doesn't seem that long, does it?  Craig and Gail are nice to have around at a Rambler meet, because in addition to their super nice Ramblers, Craig especially always has a good sarcastic comment ready for you.
• John, Joe, and Julie Boksz - AMC friends, and some fine folks who lean over backwards to help their fellow man.  It's always nice to have y'all around.   It's people like you who remind me just how much a little hospitality can mean. Just don't get Joe started about the honesty of politicians...
• Sharon, Jennifer, Joe, and John Hollar - My wife and I first made acquaintance with Sharon and her kids in 2000, when we needed a place to stay while our house was being built. Sharon allowed us to live in what we called "The Dungeon" -- the basement of the Hockman Manor houe she owned at the time. Sharon & her kids have continued to help us out frequently, which means a lot to us. Our friendship has continued to grow even after our escape from The Dungeon.
• Ryan Boschen - Ryan was my neighbor across the street from the first house I ever bought.  When I moved in, Ryan was the very first (actually, the only) person in the neighborhood to come over and say hello and offer me welcome to the neighborhood.  He has a heart of gold.  Of course, that hasn't prevented me from trading verbal barbs and insults with him.  If you ever meet him, ask him to show you his version of the Charleston dance, or email me for a brief MPEG of him performing it!
